Two State Champions Crowned at the State Track Meet, Multiple PRs and Podiums!

TWO STATE CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT THE STATE TRACK MEET, MULTIPLE PRS AND PODIUMS!

On Friday, May 18, the Broome Centurions Track team celebrated two state champions! Aayden Hemphill Shands captured the state title in the javelin with an impressive throw of 58.73 meters, breaking his own school record. Diamone Martin also earned a state championship in the javelin with a throw of 36.36 meters, marking her third state title in three years. Other Broome athletes also excelled at the state track meet, turning in strong performances across multiple events: Mahalia Williams earned a 2nd-place finish in the javelin. Zaria Nash set a personal record (PR) and placed 12th in the 100 meters. The Boys 4x800 Relay team—Sawyer Boykin, Reily McKellar, Coleman O'Dell, and Wyatt Baty—finished 13th. Aayden Hemphill Shands added to his big day with a 12th-place finish in the shot put. Makaylah Evans finished 7th in the 400 meters, setting a new PR. Addi Duggins placed 11th in the 400 meters. Kamaiya Robinson finished 7th in the 100 hurdles and set a new PR. The Girls 4x100 Relay—Zaria Nash, Madison Watson, Makaylah Evans, and Ar'Monie Brannon—took 6th place and set a new PR. The Girls 4x400 Relay—Maggie Humphries, Addi Duggins, Makaylah Evans, and Lanisha Gist—finished 7th. Ar'Monie Brannon placed 5th in the triple jump. Emilie Wilkie finished 14th in the discus. It was an outstanding day for the Centurions, with strong performances and new personal bests across the board!
